Ambigrams are one of the most sophisticated and complicated concepts among the numerous symmetric forms. They are a typographical art form that may be read as one or more words not only in its form as presented, but also from another viewpoint, direction, or orientation. The shitload of work to develop a design that works in more than one direction and still being readable is quite admirable.
Here are some really nice Metal examples. At the top of this post you can see an ambigram for American psychedalic Black Metal band Nachtmystium made by VigoAquelarre. Below we’ve got Cradle of Filth by Nagfa, Asyringe by Martin Huckert, Projeria again by Nagfa, and Black Metal by xdarkartistx.
Thanks to Martin from Asyringe for the idea to this post!
